St. John’s Christian Church is a diverse, nondenominational church. We believe and accept the scriptures as our authority in matters of faith and practice.

St. John’s Christian Church was established by its founder and pastor, Rev. Joseph L. Coleman, in 1983 under the diocese of the A.M.E. Zion faith. The church was initially started in Rev. Coleman’s residence in New London, CT. However, heeding to the voice of God, in 1985 we became St. John’s Christian Church, a non-denominational entity. Our services were then held at the YMCA in Groton, CT on Thames Street for several years. We moved to our present location of 346 Shennecossett Road in Groton in 1990. In 2004 we underwent total reconstruction of our church. St. John’s vision is and has always been evangelism. This vision was given to Rev. Coleman in accordance with Luke 19:10. We were commanded to seek and save those who are lost. The fulfillment of our vision is found in Habakkuk 2:3. As believers we are all commanded in Matthew 28: 19,20 to “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo I am with you always, even to the end of the age”. Our desire as a ministry is to reconciled all men, women and children back to God irrespective of color, creed or background. As a result of our assignment from God, our assembly of believers is a rainbow congregation. We are comprised of black, white, red and yellow which we feel is a true representation of Heaven. The Holy Spirit makes us all one. Rev. Coleman has been involved in a variety of civic organizations in Groton and New London such as: The United Way, mentor of West Side Middle School and Fitch High School, MASH, an organization for the homeless and various other commitments. He is presently the Chaplain for the City of Groton Police and Fire Departments. At St. John’s you are free to utilize your God given gifts, talents, and skills to build and lift up the Name of Jesus!

James--- his revelations are so full of WISDOM and SETTING FREE INDEED🕊 instruction! Chapter 3 of his book is entirely dedicated to THE 👅TONGUE. And why? Well, because it can speak both BL🎁SSings and Curses, Life and Death--- setting a whole situation ablaze with no way to unring the bells it sets off...🔕🔕🔕. If your tongue has a habit of being untamed and you feel the HOLY GHOST unctioning you to bring it under subjection, but do not know where to begin: OPEN YOUR BIBLE AND SEEK THE INSTRUCTION LAID FORTH IN 📖JAMES 3. For in chapter 1, James already instructs us to seek THE WISDOM of GOD--- AFTER we acknowledge that it is indeed missing: 📖James 1:5 (NIV) 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 😇OH LORD... keep the door of my lips😇

#TipTuesday 👂 Brethren let us reason together on the topic of prosperity. It is a full blown ministry in these times in which we are living, and it is extremely popular and very attractive to many Christians. A major part of this ministry's foundation is, in fact, The Law of Attraction: In the New Thought philosophy, the Law of Attraction is the belief that positive or negative thoughts bring positive or negative experiences into a person's life. While there is scripture on SPEAKING LIFE and CALLING THOSE THINGS INTO EXISTENCE THAT BE NOT AS THOUGH THEY WERE--- the Bible is very specific about a heart bent on riches. Let us review together what THE WORD says about it. Timothy, a companion of Paul, wrote these cautions for us as believers to consider on this very matter: 📖1 Timothy 6:7-10 (NIV) 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. It's not that GOD wants his children struggling, or in a financial drought. But, it is HIS desire that we would seek HIM 1st and WHOLEHE❤RTEDLY at that! When we are focused on HIM--- our storehouse will automatically overflow according to HIS promises, which are YEA AND AMEN! Prosperity isn't simply about 💲. We are also prosperous when we are HEALTHY, OPERATING IN WISDOM, OF SOUND MIND, & FULL OF AND RECEIVING L🥰VE. 😇THOSE WHO HAVE 👂, LET THEM HEAR 😇

If they are living RIGHTEOUS, in accordance to the commandments of the Bible --- seeking GOD first and foremost, loving you, his Wife, the way CHRIST loves the Church--- and causing his children not to wrath. If he's a prayer warrior who has the whole armour of GOD on to protect you and your children and a worshipper who isn't ashamed to praise THE LORD in the midst of the people. If he is a provider physically, taking care of your shelter, clothing and food; spiritually studying to shew himself approved, training up your children in the way they should go--- leaving an inheritance for them--- and their CHILDREN'S CHILDREN--- Sisters, you better rise up and get to thanking GOD FOR THE MAN HE CHOSE TO FIND YOU--- A GOOD THING--- THUSLY OBTAINING FAVOR FROM ABOVE! April 21, 2019 | Sunday am service 🔵 THE WORD delivered by Pastor Coleman 📖Matthew 28:1-10 Psalm 49:15 Daniel 12:2 There exists a heavenly power unlike none other inherent to this earth. It is miraculous and the author of many, many miracles and wonders and works: DUNAMIS💣POWER. Question: "What is the meaning of the Greek word dunamis in the Bible?" Answer: The Greek dunamis is used 120 times in the New Testament. Loosely, the word refers to “strength, power, or ability.” It is the root word of our English words dynamite, dynamo and dynamic. JESUS not only spoke of this power throughout HIS earthly ministry, but HE demonstrated it through HIS many miracles--- witnessed by the very same people who betrayed and crucified HIM. The BLOOD shed on Calvary ✝️ STILL has this DUNIMAS💣POWER--- the very power that caused CHRIST to rise on the 3rd day after dying for the remission of our sins. My Dear Brethren, we cannot not live the Christian life in our own power, but in GOD'S. It is HIS ability that makes us able to accomplish anything of value, for apart from HIM we can do nothing 📖John 15:5. It is HIS strength that makes us overcomers. As the End of Days draws near, the question of the hour is: Will you partake of HIS POWER💣 and wake to EVERLASTING LIFE; or will you continue to deny HIS invitation and awaken to ETERNAL SHAME and CONTEMPT?

HOLY WEEK🕊 | FRIDAY SERVICE 🔴THE WORD delivered by: Pastor Coleman 📖Matthew 26:47-50 John 13:21-30 JESUS' BETRAYAL AND ARREST💔 JESUS called 12 imperfect men to discipleship during HIS ministry on this earth. In HIS omniscience, HE foreknew on the day Judas was chosen--- that in his imperfection--- he would not be able to withstand in the appointed evil day and he would betray HIM... 📖Matthew 26:49-50 (KJV) 49 And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him. 50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus and took him. The Judas Kiss was as ingenuine, full of deceit, and as imperfect as Judas was the day he was chosen by our LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST as a disciple. But, even in this betrayal, CHRIST provides HIS followers with a manifestation of HIS AGAPE ❤ at a most inopportune time. How many times have we betrayed JESUS and crucified him a new and still heard HIM call us FRIEND... 🎶I am a friend of GOD. I am a friend of GOD. I am a friend of GOD--- HE CALLS ME FRIEND🎶 SELAH🙏

On that very day we read of The Last Supper CHRIST had with HIS 12 disciples, instituting what we now know today as Communion. It is during their supper that Judas is identified as The Betrayer, but even still--- the manner in which JESUS spake left the 11 others unaware of the fact that Judas indeed had plans to kill HIM. Peter's infamous denial is then foretold... And even prior to all these events, JESUS served HIS Disciples--- Judas Iscariot included, by washing their feet--- giving us an example of biblical SERVITUDE and LOVE.
